After more than half a century of development, Chinese PLA General Hospital (CPLAGH), founded in 1953, has become a large-scale modern comprehensive hospital which integrates medical treatment, health care, teaching, scientific research, prevention, rehabilitation, NBC protection and medical rescue, striding towards the goal of a world-class military hospital.

Through reorganization and restructuring, Chinese PLA General Hospital, which is also known as Chinese PLA Medical School, was established on November 2, 2018. It boasts 21 clinical medicine departments, 8 national key disciplines, 3 military “double key” disciplines, 5 national clinical medicine research centers, 7 national key experimental platforms including the State Key Laboratory of Kidney Disease, 46 key laboratories at the provincial and ministerial level, 61 PLA medical research institutes and specialized centers.

Chinese PLA Medical School is the only one run by hospital in the PLA, in which 5 first level disciplines and 20 secondary disciplines are authorized for doctoral degree, covering 47 majors; 7 first level disciplines and 23 secondary disciplines are authorized for master degree, covering 50 majors.

The Hospital has been awarded 9 first prizes and 32 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 second prizes of State Technological Invention Award, 37 first prizes of Military Science and Technology Progress Award, 24 first prizes of Military Medical Achievements. In addition, it has also been named as “International Baby-Friendly Model Hospital” and “National Public Trust Model Hospital”, cultivating a large number of medical pioneers and outstanding professionals.
